California Sports Hall of Fame

Cshof This Sunday I will be inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame.  I am very proud of this honor, mainly because of the people that I will be inducted with.  To have my name mentioned with people like Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Eric Dickerson, Rafer Johnson, Marcus Allen, Reggie Jackson, Elgin Baylor, Chick Hearn, Bill Walsh, Jackie Robinson, John Wooden, Wilt Chamberlin, and Magic Johnson is quite an honor.

This is the first induction class, and I am very proud to be a part of it.  I would like to thank all the people who made it possible for me to be included.  This is a most gratifying experience, and I hope you will join us at the Anaheim Hilton this Sunday to help honor these tremendous athletes.

Well deserved Tommy, congratulations.

Now let’s get to the World Series in 2007 !!!

Go Dodgers !!!

Today was one of the best days of my life. I was at the stadium to buy season tickets and I got to shake your hand Mr. Lasorda. A hand of a hall of famer that well deserves it!!!!! The worst part of it all, is I had a camera and was to exited to meet you, that I did not take a picture. Will the chance ever happen again? Mabye we can set up a time. My schedule is very flexable. I would love a picture of you to hang right next to my Dodgers home plate with your autograph on it which is right above my set of Dodger seats from the stadium. I would really love a picture with you most, but would take any picture of you. Mabye if we cant meet again, you can send me one. From your #1 lucky fan!!!! You are the best!!!!!!!!!!

Tommy,

Congratulations to a master motivator, baseball ambassador and, most important, Dodgers icon. It is so appropriate for you and Jackie to represent the Dodgers in this first set of inductees. Stay healthy and best of luck to you, Frank, Ned, Grady and players in this coming season.

Congratulations Tommy. Glad to see your name up there with the great sports luminaries of California.

Tommy,

Congratulations on this honor. I know you are in my “hall of fame” for having impacted my life the way you have. You have been a role model for me for almost 30 years now. You have shown integrity and character in every stage of your life. You belong in the “hall” not only for what you did on the field for the Dodgers and team USA, but for what you have done off the field as well!

With Respect,

Pastor Dale Thackrah

Congrats! Well deserved honor to a man that made this kid from Philly’s life miserable in the 70s.

California couldn’t have a better ambassador than Tommy Lasorda.

Wondering about the all you can eat seats out in I think right field this year. I sure hope this is a trend that other teams and especially players include in their routines. Tommy, do you think this will swing the trend in bseball back to a less obsession with being physically fit. It,S not just baseball that has this. There are so many plastic surgeries going on. Most young doctors choose this field probably. I hope baseball goes back to simpler training.

Tommy is a true American patriot; and, he deserves all the good things that come his way.

Congratulations Tommy. For the past 35 years you have been on my top 5 list of people I want to meet someday. You epitomize the L.A. Dodgers with your enthusiasm and spirit. Cut me baby, and I bleed Dodger Blue!

Tommy, you are the biggest JERK in baseball. I would be ashamed of myself if I were you. Your suppose to be an Ambassador for the game but you treat people like there dirt. I happen to be at Dodgertown yesterday to see a young man “MY NEW HERO” cuss you out because of how you treat people. I have wanted to do this for 25 years. You are RUDE to everybody you encounter. You put on this big act when the camera’s are around to make yourself look like a GREAT person. Maybe you should look at yourself in the mirror one day. I know that what you will see will discust you.

Also, I seen 3 of the security gaurds and about 10 fans walk up to that young man to shake his hand for what he said to you. Just thought that you would like to know that everybody around thinks the same of you. YOUR A HALL OF FAME JERK.

Love the Dodger lady.

Congratulations Mr. Lasorda on this honor… I had the good fortune of seeing you in Vero Beach a couple of years back and having the opportunity to take a photo of you and my Uncle… I was hoping that I might be able to send this photo along to you and have you autograph it for my Uncle so that I may present it as a gift to him. I would love to make a donation to the Mattel Children’s Hospital Fund in your name for this special request.

Thank you in advance…

Jeff Summers

p.s. we are both Canadian but please don’t blame us for that game!

Dear Mr. Lasorda:
Congratulations on the honor. You should realize, without false modesty, that those inductees are honored by being included with YOU in the same sentence.

I’m a Giants fan and have been since I came home from overseas. I learned to hate the Dodgers early and you particularly.

However, that was 35 years ago and, as you have, I’ve managed to grow a little older and a little wiser with regard to The Game of Baseball. I’ve learned what a true treasure you are to The Game.

You notice that I capitalize The Game? I do that because I hold it in high reverence just as you do because of what it has done for this country and for the world in general. The Game has brought us together in a way that soccer never could, that football never could; that no other sport on this planet has ever done.

You have been The High Ambassador for Baseball since your first day as a pitcher, and you still are today.

You have made me think seriously about the state of The Game. Thomas Jefferson once said that dissent is the highest form of patriotism. Well I have a dissenting view that I want your opinion on.

When I first started going to games it was a few bucks to get in, a couple of bucks for beer and a buck or so for a dog. Now you go to a game and it’s $25+ just to get into the nosebleed seats, $7-$9 for a beer, and $5-$6 for a dog! What made the prices go up so high? I’ll tell you what, the high prices being paid for snot-nosed punks with bad attitudes who bring their egos to the field and an attitude into the clubhouse. When is Baseball going to start treating these children with temper tantrums the way they should be treated? You wouldn’t allow your children or grandchildren to act that way, would you? Why is this behavior allowed? Why can’t someone just put their foot down and say, “Enough is enough!”? The Players Union should also be held to task for letting these children dictate what is acceptable for behavior. They think that it’s ok to use drugs of all kinds to improve stamina and strength. Yet no one is saying stop to anyone! I would love to hear it publicly stated that this will no longer be tolerated – not even once.

As a result of all the price increases, I can no longer afford to go to see a game at the ballpark. I have to content myself with watching them on TV. That is unsatisfying and I, for one, would love to see that change.

Sometime, when you have a chance, tell me what you think about this subject.

All in all, thank you Tom Lasorda. You’ve been instrumental in making The Game something to strive for. Your contribution is now and always will be priceless.

That lady that says that Tommy is the biggest jerk in baseball, absolutely hit it right on the head. I worked for a few years, as a minor league clubhouse manager in the Dodger organization. Therefore, I was around Tommy more than I cared to be. I know that as a celebrity, it’s not easy and that you’re not going to make everybody happy with picture request, etc. Having said that, I don’t care who you are; you should have some plain common courtesy. I have never been treated with more disrespect in my entire life! Tommy Lasorda is the most arrogant, most disrespectful, most full of ****- put on a show for the fans(yeah great ambassador!), jerk I have met or will ever meet!

Hi Tommy
Congratulations.

Thank you for the best 3 game series (April 6, 7 & 8th) I have seen in a LONG time.

Those of you who do not know the “real” Tom Lasorda have no idea what you are talking about. I live up North (San Francisco area) and for many many years I could not afford to go to a game. EVERYtime the Dodgers came to town Tommy Lasorda gave me free tickets and had his team sign balls for me. And he was nothing but nice.

Tommy treats people as they treat him. Maybe fireproof was the one who was arrogant and Tommy felt/knew it.

My sister was recently had a Vegas 51 game. She went up to Tommy and said “Carole said to tell you hello.” Not only did he tell her to tell me “hello” he also signed some stuff for her (which she of course sent to me).

If everyone was as nice as Tommy Lasorda is the world would be a better place.

Tommy deserves to be in The California Sports Hall of Fame. He also deserves to be in the Human Hall of Fame.

Congratulations Mr. Lasorda! When I think of Dodgers baseball, I think of you first. You are True Blue. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our team over these many great years. *That ’88 team will always be my favorite. God bless you, your wife and family. No one in California sports history deserves that honor more than you do. Way to go Tommy! :)

We firmly believe there is more to life than money, beer, and sex. We just don’t know what it is.
