You would be mad too if this happened to you:
Here is my story that aired last night on 790 KABC as part of the Lasorda at His Best series presented by Skechers:
I would tell my coach who I wanted to play and he would fill out the line-up and post it in the dugout. He would also fill out the card we gave to the umpire. Well he made a mistake and made two different line-ups.
When Dusty Baker hit the ball to make an out, Danny Ozark, who was managing the Phillies, came out and protested that he was batting out of turn.
If you know a guy is batting out of turn you shouldn’t say it unless he hurts you. If he doesn’t hurt you, let it go and continue because maybe the next time when he hurts you then you tell the umpire he batted out of order.
But Danny didn’t do that.
So after Dusty hit in Ron Cey’s spot in the line-up with the ground out, he had to hit for himself in his spot. For Ron’s spot Dusty made an out, but for his spot he hit a home run.
Ron was furious. He didn’t want to talk to Dusty for three days.
